We went with some friends to visit the Eureka Fire Department. We got to see the firefighters' living quarters, the big trucks (of course), and a firefighter donning all of the firefighting gear -and this can look pretty scary to a little kid so it's good to introduce them to what they look like on a rescue in case it ever happens that we need rescuing. Best of all, a firefighter showed us how you can use the pole to get down to the first floor FAST. In fact, they said they can be in the trucks one minute after receiving a call to rescue.
Some of our friends sing in the Interfaith Gospel Choir and now their kids are in the kids choir. We really wanted to see all of them at their performance, so Charlotte and I went out in the rain last Saturday evening to sit in the pews of the Arcata Presbyterian Church, surrounded by tons of people from the community, to listen to some really powerful music. Here's a video: http://youtu.be/6rEebydRn_M and here's another with just the kids singing (you probably can tell which ones are Charlotte's friends by the smiles and waves): http://youtu.be/ScKeKngmGOg
Sunset. It was way cooler in person.
Junebug. She's better in person too.
I drove out to Elk River Road on Monday to take Charlotte and Julia to a horse riding lesson. What a pretty drive.
Here's a video of Julia saying cheese: http://youtu.be/Agejp5bTbiM
