We were at the park for two hours today, and for about one hour, the girls were deeply engaged in pretend play, busily "dusting" around their "house" to keep bugs and snakes away. They were happily crawling around in the duff and dirt, scratching their sticks back and forth to make dust, and I kept thinking about my library book and how I should have brought it! They don't need me as much to initiate or guide play time. It's fun to watch while they're in their own little world battling snakes and cooking meals with sticks, but next time, I will have my book.
It's pretty awesome that the girls spend so much time playing, but Steve was saying last night that he feels a little left out sometimes.
When we got home, I told the girls I'd make them some hot chocolate. I needed to warm up and it's fun to have a treat. The best part? We happened to have some marshmallows in the cupboard!
