CB's class went on a field trip to Ferndale to visit the Bancrest Dairy. Don't you love their matching tie-dye t-shirts?
Here they are loading up to ride out to the dairy.
So, I was a chaperone and Julia tagged along. What else was she going to do? CB made sure J didn't fall out of the tractor. She was playing the role of the proud big sister and Julia ate it up.
Ferndale is breathtakingly beautiful. This is a terrible photo, really. Oh, it was a warm, gorgeous day -we lucked out!
Waiting to head into the milking barn, the class passed around a container to cream to shake into butter.
Here's the sweet cow who kindly let two first grades classes milk her.
Every kid got to try it out. I felt for the cow after awhile -she wanted to get on with the milking, I'm sure!
Got some on your shoes!
Even little Junebug gave it a try. See the milk?
What a great group:
This dairy provides milk to Humboldt Creamery who makes ICE CREAM.
Happy kids.
