Sometimes Charlotte retreats and finds a quiet spot to read a book to herself.
We had to buy this shirt -CB loves her cousin Olivia!
This last spring, my friends from the Monday Playgroup and I started planning a big (first annual) family camp out for August at Ruth Lake in Trinity County (about a two hour drive south and east on a super twisty road, highway 36, from Eureka). Six families reserved adjoining campsites and stayed Fri-Sun. The 90 degree weather was perfect for swimming in the lake and hanging around the campsite with a cold beer. The six 3.5 year olds had a BLAST running from campsite to campsite checking out each other's tents and grabbing snacks from each other's moms and dads.
My friend May and I test out the new double hammock my parents and I got Steve for his 35th birthday:
In it again in the chilly morning -it's really comfortable!
On Friday night, Steve made burgers, and of course, we had s'mores for dessert. On Saturday night, we made barbecue pizza -all homemade! It was actually pretty easy and was very delicious; here Julia devours another slice:
Our family fun-mobile with sailboat, canoe, and loads of stuff.
Ok, so one of the best parts of the camping trip was late afternoon Saturday, after all of us had packed up our gear after spending the day lakeside and were about to head back up to the campsites, we decided that the dads should watch all the kids so that the moms could paddle out on the canoes. The six of us ditched the kids (dads prepped dinner) and we paddled over to a pretty little cove. We beached the canoes and walked over to a floating dock where we each took turns jumping into deep lake water. Oh, so refreshing and so peaceful -no kids, no worries, just six moms floating around soaking up the last of the days sunshine. Isn't that nice?
Here we are after our three days of camping, just about to leave the lake. We've been meeting almost every Monday morning for about two and a half years. Kristie, me, Jodie, May, Alice, and Amanda. Susan couldn't make it; she was missed!
