Wrap your hand around a warm drink...

I don't think I'd feel so cold nor be so uncomfortable if I just resigned myself to wearing winter clothes and closed toed shoes. No, instead I suffer with cold toes because I refuse to give up my sandals and summer blouses because it's AUGUST. Not that I'm dressing in skimpy summer wear: today I wore a wind-proof vest and bulky cardigan over my cute little summer t-shirt.
I'm serious, I think we've had only about three to five sunny days since mid-July. Well, not even sunny days, instead sunny AFTERNOONS, which means the sun peaks out around noon and is gone when the evening fog rolls in for dinner.
It's been an unusually dark and chilly August and we're all going crazy here in Humboldt County!
Here's a snapshot I took today while at the annual summer county fair in Ferndale:

In the next couple of days, I'll be posting some pictures from our afternoon spent at the county fair. We had a great time (despite turning into ice cubes, as Charlotte said). There were animals galore!  Pigs, lambs, bunnies, cows, goats, were all on display in big fairground buildings; most lounging in pens decorated with different colored 4-H ribbons. In the goat building, Julia, ever so confidently, pointed and called out over and over again, "Dog! Dog! Dog!"  You'll love the picture of Charlotte on the airplane ride...
