kiwis from our garden

Our kiwi vine finally produced its first kiwis this year!! We found a pair of fuzzy kiwi hanging off the vine this winter when all the leaves had fallen (at first I thought I saw a rat). Ooooh, there have got to be more next year! I hear it takes 3-5 years for kiwi plants to produce fruit, so we're right on track.
Speaking of food from our yard, I'm looking forward to taking a class this Feb at HSU from a local farmer who just wrote a book called the Humboldt County Kitchen Gardener. I certainly can use some advice on dealing with pests, pruning, fertilizing, etc. I'll have more time for gardening this spring/summer -Julia will be almost one -and I won't be pregnant! I really didn't garden much last year with my big belly in the way and being tired so much.
This picture was uploaded from my phone! I have the oldest camera phone but this is a cool new thing for me -how convenient!
